Takuya Kuroda | Concert

Born in Kobe and based in Brooklyn, trumpet virtuoso Takuya Kuroda takes the stage at Komünite on November 20 at 9:30 PM with his unique sound that blurs the boundaries between genres.

With a musical career spanning three decades and having captivated audiences across the jazz world’s most prestigious platforms—from Pitchfork to Blue Note—Kuroda takes his artistry to the next level with his eighth studio album, Everyday. Forged through a wide range of collaborations—from DJ Premier to Akoya Afrobeat—the artist seamlessly blends hip-hop, neo-soul, and modern jazz on a flawless “groove” foundation. Kuroda’s trumpet, synthesizers, and Rhodes touches transform the ordinary rhythms of daily life into a sophisticated, high-energy dance experience.

Takuya Kuroda’s eighth studio album, *Everyday*, is a rhythmic masterpiece that reflects the artist’s disciplined work ethic and genre-crossing approach. Blending elements of jazz, funk, post-bop, and neo-soul with a hip-hop aesthetic, the album unites production and organic performance under the principle of a “perfect blend.” Built upon drummer David Frazier’s energetic rhythms and Kuroda’s use of trumpet and synth, the work transforms the mundane sounds of daily life into a deep and joyful musical expression. Grounded in the “groove,” this project offers a jazz experience that is both rooted in tradition and modern.

Drawing inspiration from the ordinariness of everyday life yet crafting a musical language far removed from the ordinary, Takuya Kuroda promises a sonic feast with his memorable melodies and dynamic performances that blend genres.
