Marquis Hill "Blacktet Revisited" | Concert
Raised in Chicago’s deep-rooted musical culture and recognized on the global stage after winning the Thelonious Monk Competition, widely regarded as one of the world’s most prestigious jazz awards, trumpeter Marquis Hill comes to Komünite with his band Blacktet on October 17 at 9:30 PM.
Drawing on a rich jazz tradition that stretches from the dramatic silences of Miles Davis to the virtuosity of Clifford Brown, Hill has been praised by leading music authorities such as The New Yorker and DownBeat for his clear, genre-defying style.
Blending classic jazz with hip-hop, R&B, neo-soul, and Chicago house sounds from the city where he was born and raised, Hill sees all these styles as “different branches of the same tree” and brings a high-energy musical experience to the stage.
