Danae Palaka | Concert

Danae Palaka takes the stage at Komünite on 27 January at 9:30 PM.

Istanbul-based drummer and artist Danae Palaka blends contemporary jazz, krautrock and electronic music with rhythms influenced by Anatolian, Balkan and Afrobeat traditions. Born in Athens into a musical family with roots partly tracing back to Istanbul, Palaka moved to the city to explore its cultural heritage and her own roots. She has been active on the local and international music scenes ever since.

In 2024, Palaka released her debut album, Velox, via A.F.O.M. INT., the label of Turkish selector Zozo. The album brings together drums and synthesizers, combining intricate rhythms with dreamlike textures. In 2025, Palaka embarked on her first European tour, performing at venues and festivals including Blurred Edges Festival, Das Minsk, Akbank Jazz Festival, Bozcaada Jazz Festival, Avalon and KET.

She performs live with Ezgi Sevgi Can on saxophone, Nikos Dervisis on synthesizer and Ömer Akalın on bass.
